Dubrovnik Hosts Inaugural Meetup for Digital Nomads, Showcasing Ambitious Plans for Nomad-Friendly Initiatives  The Dubrovnik Times

The first Meetup of Digital Nomads in Dubrovnik took place on Friday, December 8, 2023. The gathering occurred at the Academia Student Centre, also serving as a co-working space in Dubrovnik, starting at 11 AM. This event marks a series of gatherings for digital nomads in Dubrovnik, providing an ideal opportunity to connect with fellow digital nomads, exchange experiences, and lay the foundation for future meetings.

During this gathering, the project “Ambassadors of Digital Nomads in Dubrovnik” was introduced, with Nilesh Pandey, the current ambassador, emphasizing the importance of the role of digital nomad ambassadors. Their key task is to bring together digital nomads and organize workshops, meetings, and discussions to share remote work experiences, thereby strengthening the bond within the digital nomad community in Dubrovnik.

The Meetup Dubrovnik continues the activities conducted by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board in collaboration with the City of Dubrovnik, aiming to position Dubrovnik as a digital nomad-friendly destination. It is noteworthy that the prestigious American media house Bloomberg has recognized Croatia as one of the leading countries in attracting digital nomads, further confirming Dubrovnik’s visibility on the global digital nomad market.

The Dubrovnik Tourist Board is implementing a marketing strategy through the “Long Stay Dubrovnik” project, targeting all nomads, both those already present in the city and those planning to come, as well as tourists on extended stays. Additionally, the Digital Nomad Pass has been designed, including tickets to various attractions, service discounts, and free public transportation for one month, available to nomads staying four weeks in Dubrovnik, exclusively purchasable at the main office of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.

Apart from activities focused on meetings and gathering digital nomads, a working group has been formed within the Remote-IT project of the Dura development agency, in collaboration with the City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, Saltwater Nomads, and Dubrovnik Sun Gardens. The project’s goal is to examine the challenges and opportunities of Dubrovnik as a destination for digital nomads, with a focus on strengthening the local economy, reducing the carbon footprint, and improving the quality of life. The Remote-IT network encompasses various cities with different local practices, challenges, and goals, where each partner city develops a local stakeholder network through Urban Local Group (ULG), and Individual Integrated Action Plans (IAP) represent the final results of the project created by the ULGs of each city.
