Three Festive London Tips
Before I sign-off for the year, I want to share three standout festive London tips which have stoodout for me. Yes, the classic angels illuminating Regent Street are a must-see, embodying the timeless elegance of London’s festive spirit. But beyond these iconic lights, there are three other exceptional places that have truly captivated the city with their unique holiday charm this year. Each of these locations offers a distinct and unforgettable experience, showcasing the best of London’s Christmas magic and making them unmissable highlights at this Holiday Season.
So, if you’re in London this December and wondering about some brilliant things to do, you should definitely check out these destinations before January 7, 2024:
1. Covent Garden, London
This year, Covent Garden’s Apple Market Christmas installation is a dazzling display inspired by traditional golden bells. Over 40 gigantic bells adorned with red bows trimmed in gold, 12 giant red baubles, and 8 spinning mirror balls are showcased in the iconic Apple Market Building.
Covent Garden’s majestic 60-foot Christmas tree is a breathtaking sight. This towering tree, beautifully adorned with lights and decorations, becomes a focal point, symbolizing the joy and grandeur of the holiday season in the heart of London.festive celebrations.
The installation transforms the area into a festive wonderland.
What stood out for me was the unmissable mingling aroma of mulled wine and the harmonious voices of carolers. An atmosphere of festive warmth and cheer that make this destination a must-visit in London.
2. Carnaby Street, London
This year, I am completely awestruck by Carnaby Street in London at Christmas installation. This year, Carnaby Street has brought a unique festive experience with its “Carnaby Universe” installation. The area, known for its historical significance and vibrant atmosphere, is illuminated with colourful lights and decorations, creating a mesmerizing and galactic ambiance.
The photos do not do justice to the mesmerizing atmosphere that you experience when you are here. You can take a look at my Instagram post about ‘Carnaby Universe.’
If you are able to, visit London this Christmas. You can enjoy this festive London display, until the 7th of January 2024, and for tips about this display, visit their official website at Carnaby.co.uk
3. Kings Cross St Pancras, London
The Christmas installations at Kings Cross London station and St Pancras International station are a spectacular display of festive creativity and cheer, drawing visitors into a world of seasonal magic and wonder right in the heart of London.
This year, St. Pancras International has teamed up with Hatchards to create a unique Christmas installation. The centrepiece of this festive display is a magnificent tree, a literary wonderland inspired by the realms created by famous authors. Decorated with hand-painted books, including classics like Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” the tree features whimsical elements such as a winding staircase and cosy nooks. These nooks offer visitors an immersive experience with audiobook excerpts provided by Penguin Books. Unfortunately, the audio did not work during my visit.
This installation is not only a visual treat but also a celebration of literature and the Christmas spirit.
London Festive Tip at Platform 9¾, Kings Cross Station
The Christmas installation at Platform 9 ¾, in King’s Cross Station, London, for 2023 features a Harry Potter-themed Christmas tree. This installation adds a magical touch to the holiday season, especially for Harry Potter fans, and complements the iconic trolley half-embedded in the wall, which is a perennial favourite for photos. The station creates a special festive atmosphere that captures the enchantment of the Harry Potter world.
I sincerely hope you find my curated festive London tips valuable and that they guide you to experience the enchanting magic of Christmas in London, a city that transforms into a winter wonderland during this joyful season.
I like to share with you one of my favourite quotes about Christmas:
“Christmas magic is silent. You don’t hear it—you feel it, you know it, you believe it.” — Kevin Alan Milne.
Wishing You, Happy Holidays and a Fantastic Year of Travels in 2024!
