RETURN to Gentle Minimalism (and how we slipped back into our old ways)

We're going to get honest and vulnerable about our slip back into consumerism, and the tough decision we had to make for the second time. Plus, you'll see our condo in Cumbaya and the furniture we had custom built. Before we moved to Cuenca, Ecuador in 2017, we sold almost everything we owned and downsized into 4 suitcases plus a few boxes we stored at our parents' houses. It was a state of consumerism that we called "Gentle Minimalism," which means we don't live out of a backpack, but we don't buy a bunch of stuff we don't need, either. We've also heard it called "essentialism." We were so proud of our success in ditching consumerism, that we recorded a video about it back in 2019 and talked about how liberating it felt to be unburdened by the weight of our possessions. However, after several years of living in Ecuador, we slowly started accumulating again and our 4 suitcases turned into a moving truck! After Daisy passed away on August 30, 2023, we decided it was time to pull the trigger on our long-planned world tour, but we found ourselves weighed down by our possessions again. And once again, we were left with two choices: store it or sell it. In this video, we'll share how we slipped back into the consumer mindset, and what we did to escape it once again.
