8 Packing Tips from Over 100 Disney World Experts
4 min readWe’ve been to Disney thousands of times (if you put our whole team together), and we know a thing or two about packing for the parks.
However, we also have plenty of moments where we don’t listen to our own advice and do things we tell YOU not to do. So we thought, instead of US giving you Disney World packing tips, why don’t we ask you, the readers, to advise each other? We did just that and got over 100 responses — here’s what those experts said.
Use Packing Cubes
By far one of the most popular answers was to use packing cubes. Packing cubes are a great way to condense your clothes into smaller squares so you can fit more in your bag.
You may not think these will work, but we promise, they do! We’ve used them ourselves and now won’t go on a trip without them. You can buy them for fairly cheap online, and have multiple different sizes to use.
Bring An Extra Suitcase For Souvenirs BUT Filled With Snacks
If you’re planning on bringing lots of souvenirs home, but also want to bring tons of snacks from home so you don’t need to buy absolutely everything you want to eat in the parks, pack an extra suitcase filled with snacks, and fill it with souvenirs for the way home!
This way, you’re not wasting any space, and you’re saving money by not buying snacks in the park, and/or needing to buy an extra bag for all your souvenirs to fit in. Or, if you don’t need to bring snacks there, you can also pack a collapsible duffel bag in your suitcase to use for souvenirs.
Make Packing Lists
To avoid forgetting anything, or feeling like you’re overpacking, make a packing list at home!
This way, you can check off every single thing that needs to go in your bag as you put it in. So you can triple check you’re not forgetting anything, but also be sure you’re not packing too much.
Pack Your Suitcase, Then Take Out Half of It
SO many of our readers shared this tip with us, because they’re all aware that many of us are overpackers — pack your suitcase how you plan to, then take half of it out.
Even if you think you’ve only packed the essentials, it’s likely you’ve packed a few things that don’t really need to be there. And if you’re concerned about not having enough clothes, you can do laundry at your Disney hotel! This way, you can only pack half the amount of clothes you need, and wash them halfway through your trip.
Bring Layers
If you’re going to Disney World in the middle of summer, you may think this is silly, but it’s NOT! Always pack layers to Disney World, even if it’s just something simple like a light jacket or cardigan.
Why? Well, when it’s summer, you won’t need it outside, but stores, rides, and restaurants all have the AC blasting, and that can very quickly chill the sweat on your skin and make you feel like you’re freezing. Or, if it starts to rain outside, the sun goes away and the temperature suddenly drops, you’ll be wishing you had a jacket.
Roll Your Clothes
You’ve likely heard this tip a million times, but it’s true that rolling your clothes allows for more space.
And when space is limited in that suitcase, you need all the extra you can get. Rolling your clothes is the best method whether you’re using packing cubes or not, AND we highly recommend rolling undergarments inside your shirts/pants to save room as well.
Pack Kids’ Outfits in Ziplock Bags
If you’re a little stressed about your young ones getting ready in the morning, pack their whole outfits in individual ziplock bags, so all they have to do in the morning is grab the right one and get ready!
Heck, this can work for adults too! If you’re worried about spending too much time digging around in your suitcase each morning, pack those outfits up and make your mornings way easier.
Pack a Full Set of Clothes in Your Carry-On
Lastly, our readers suggested packing a full set of clothes in your carry on bag on your travel days.
This way, if something happens to your checked bags, you at least have one other outfit to change into. It may take up more room than you’d like, but it could save you in the long run.
And then you’ll be all ready to have the time of your life at your Disney World hotel and the parks. We’re always here to help you plan for your trips, so stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest tips and tricks!
