While they may not be the most valuable miles in the world, having a stash of Delta SkyMiles can be useful. With semi-regular Delta SkyMiles flash sales like 34,000 miles to London, Hawaii as low as  14,000 miles roundtrip, and flights to New Zealand and back for just 37,400 SkyMiles, what’s not to love?

Lucky for you, there’s an easy new way to earn Delta SkyMiles and it has nothing to do with setting foot on a plane. Delta and Hilton partnered up for a new promotion to earn 1,000 bonus SkyMiles on your next Hilton stay between now and July 7.

Delta SkyMiles Hilton Promotion

Here’s everything you need to know:

  • Must register for the promotion by May 6
  • Must complete your Hilton stay between April 6 and July 7
  • You can redeem this offer on up to three Hilton stays – for a total of 3,000 bonus SkyMiles
  • Eligible only on paid stays made in U.S. dollars – stays booked using Hilton Honors points won’t count
  • Not eligible for stays booked before registering for the promotion
  • You’ll still earn Hilton Honors points for your stay

This sweet promotion is relatively easy to take advantage of. With a couple of big holiday weekends falling within the promotion dates and summer travel just around the corner, plenty of travelers will already be staying at hotels, and picking up a few thousand SkyMiles for choosing Hilton isn’t a bad tradeoff.

Even if you don’t foresee a Hilton stay in the next few months, it would be a wise move to register for the promotion just in case. Plus, you can earn bonus SkyMiles on up to three Hilton stays between now and July 7, meaning you could earn up to 3,000 bonus miles with this offer.

If you don’t already have your Delta SkyMiles account listed as a “Preferred Travel Partner” with Hilton, you’ll need to do this during the registration process.

After clicking the link to register for the promotion you’ll be prompted to log in or sign-up for a Hilton Honors account. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be directed to the account preferences page where you can link preferred travel partners such as Delta Air Lines.

After registering for the promotion, you can browse properties and book a new stay. Keep in mind that if you already have a Hilton stay booked that falls within the eligible dates, you’ll need to cancel and rebook to be eligible for 1,000 bonus SkyMiles. Just be sure to check the price to make sure you’re not paying a higher rate just for the bonus SkyMiles.

While it’s not uncommon for hotels and airlines to team up, this is the first promotion in recent memory where Hilton and Delta have worked together to offer reciprocal point earning. But it doesn’t come as a huge shock as both the Delta SkyMiles and Hilton Honors portfolios of co-branded credit cards are issued by American Express, they already have a mutual relationship there.

Bottom Line

Hilton and Delta just teamed up for a new promotion, awarding 1,000 bonus Delta SkyMiles for each Hilton stay (up to three stays) booked and completed between April 6 and July 7. To be eligible for the promotion, you must first register and add your Delta SkyMiles account number to Hilton’s preferred travel partner list.

If you’re booking a hotel in the next few months, it could pay to book with Hilton and score some free SkyMiles in the process.
