Searches for Digital Nomad Visas Hit an All-Time Record High Worldwide
2 min readA total of 1,135 percent increase worldwide has been marked for digital nomad visa searches, according to a new analysis of Google search data.
Based on the recent analysis, the demand for remote work has hit an all-time high, VisaGuide.World reports.
The travel expert and CEO of Places to Travel, Jason Wilson, has emphasized that this kind of visas are a new way of legally working in another country for a longer period, with the first only introduced about four years ago, with the COVID-19 situation leading a large number of companies to work remotely.
Since then, their popularity has taken the world by storm – as the results of the study show – with employees keen to take advantage of the unique working opportunities afforded to them, whilst continuing to build their hard-earned careers.
According to Wilson, nomadic visas offer a holistic way for those who work remotely to experience a new country, as opposed to the more traditional routes of taking a career break.
To successfully gain a digital nomad visa, each country offering the program has their own specific eligibility requirements – often relating to the applicant’s salary, career, and education history. However, for those who meet the criteria, the experience can be life-changing – with durations starting from many months to a year, and some even allow renewals.
Based on the VisaGuide.World Digital Nomad Visa Index, European countries offer the best programs of this kind for remote work lovers. In this index, six out of nine top countries are in Europe.
Spain has the world’s best Digital Nomad Visa Program, based on the VisaGuide.World index, offering six months of tax-free stay for remote workers.
Argentina is placed in the second position in this index, followed by Romania, United Arab Emirates, Croatia, Portugal, Uruguay, Malta and Norway.
Last month, Italy joined the list of countries offering digital nomad visas for persons interested in living in this country while working remotely for companies or clients located outside Italy.
Authorities in this country announced that since April 4, internationals are eligible to benefit from this scheme.
The Digital Nomad Visa of Italy is being managed under Article 27 of the immigration code, meaning that it aims to attract highly skilled workers.
