All the Countries Offering Digital Nomad Visas Right Now  Thrillist

If there is one thing that everybody seemingly wants to do in 2024 is toss some clothes, their passport, and their work computer into a bag and head off to another country to live their best digital nomad life. And how can you blame them? What’s better than discovering the world without using all your PTO?

While becoming a digital nomad has been a trending interest in the past few years, it has specifically been a prominent trend in 2024. A recent study by travel website Places to Travel found that Google search volume around the phrase “digital nomad visas” have seen a whopping 1,135% surge in worldwide searches this year. Reportedly, this is the highest demand around digital nomad visas ever recorded in history.

Last month, Italy announced its digital nomad visa program, and that, too, boosted interest in the trend. According to the same study, searches for the Italian digital nomad visa skyrocketed after the country announced the program, increasing by 3,025% worldwide.

Looking at what a digital nomad visa entails, it is easy to understand why everybody is looking to snag one right now.

“Digital nomad visas are still a relatively new way of legally working in another country for an extended period of time—with the first only having launched around four years ago, in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic which forced many companies to shift to remote working practices,” Jason Wilson, CEO of Places to Travel, said in a statement. “Nomadic visas offer an exciting and holistic way for remote workers to experience a new country, as opposed to the more ‘traditional’ routes of taking a career break.”

But choosing where to go next to start your digital nomad career might not be so simple—and that’s where we come to the rescue. Since there are so many digital nomad visas available right now, we put together a very comprehensive list of all the countries offering them. That way, you can consider all your options and how, exactly, they compare before you make your choice.

To make your decision easier for you, we included just a few necessary pieces of information, including costs, length, and where you can apply—as well as where to look to find additional details. This guide will also be refreshed whenever there is news of a new digital nomad visa being offered. Happy travels!
