TEMPO.CO,  Jakarta – A digital nomad can work anywhere and anytime. Their work isn’t bound by time and place, so working while traveling becomes feasible. Countries even provide visas for remote workers aiming to become digital nomads, including Indonesia.

So, what are the requirements to apply for a digital nomad visa in Indonesia?

What to Know about Digital Nomad Visa

Before delving into the eligibility and requirements of a digital nomad visa in Indonesia, you must first know what a digital nomad visa is.

A digital nomad visa is a residence permit given to remote workers who are not tied to a specific physical location. This visa allows them to stay in certain countries for a longer period than a regular tourist visa. Many countries have applied digital nomad visa policies for remote workers.

Indonesian Digital Nomad Visa Requirements

Foreign citizens who long to work remotely from Indonesia could apply for a B211A visa. There are several requirements that foreigners must satisfy before getting this visa, namely:

  • Have a valid passport for a minimum of 6 months (for 60-day-stay)  or 12 months from entry to Indonesia
  • Proof of US$2,000 minimum bank balance to prove they can support themselves financially in Indonesia
  • Health insurance or travel insurance
  • Proof of exit ticket from Indonesia to prevent overstays
  • 3×4 photograph with a white background and taken at least 6 months previously.
  • Prepare other supporting documents such as permission to re-enter the country of residence.

How to Make an Indonesian Digital Nomad Visa

1. Collect all necessary documents

Before applying for a digital nomad visa, make sure you have all the required documents, such as proof of onward travel, a valid passport, and proof of funds.

2. Complete an online application

Digital nomads must apply for a visa at the Indonesian Immigration website at https://evisa.imigration.go.id/. You can also come to the Indonesian Embassy and submit all the documents directly.

3. Pay the Registration Fee

The registration fee for digital nomads is Rp2,000,000 or US$122 (exchange rate Rp16,264) and is valid for 60 days. For a single-entry visa valid for 180 days, you must pay Rp6,000,000 or US$369. Meanwhile, a single-entry visa registration fee for tourists is Rp1,500,000 or US$92, also valid for 60 days.
