Starting July 2024, Garuda Indonesia will boost the frequency of flights from Bali to Sydney, Melbourne, and Seoul, responding to rising passenger demand.

The national airline Garuda Indonesia continues to strengthen its efforts to expand its flight network by increasing the frequency of international flights to and from Bali in line with the growth in passengers’ demand for this destination.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, explained that increasing the frequency of international flights from various cities in Australia and South Korea, such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Seoul, to be daily, will be implemented in stages starting in early July 2024.

Several routes whose frequency will be increased include the Denpasar–Sydney route (previously five times per week) starting the 1st of July, 2024; the Denpasar–Melbourne route (previously five times per week) starting the 4th of July, 2024; and the Denpasar–Seoul route (previously four times per week) starting the 6th of July, 2024.

“The additional frequency of international flights to and from Denpasar this time is in line with demand which continues to grow positively. The total number of foreign tourists visits is dominated by tourists from Australia and South Korea who come to enjoy their holiday in one of their favourite destinations, namely Bali,” said Setiaputra in his official statement on Wednesday, the 10th of July.

Setiaputra further stated that the increase in the number of foreign tourist visits to Bali in 2024 will also have a positive impact on the operational performance of Garuda Indonesia’s international flights to and from Denpasar. This increase was observed on the routes operated by the company, namely Denpasar-Singapore, Denpasar-Sydney, Denpasar-Tokyo Narita, Denpasar-Incheon Seoul, Denpasar-Melbourne, and Denpasar-Manado-Tokyo Narita.

He also explained that the overall number of passengers successfully transported in the first half of 2024 grew by 155% or 233,000 passengers compared to the same period in the previous year, which was around 91,000 passengers.

“Additionally, we hope that the steps taken by Garuda Indonesia can also be sustainable with the government’s efforts to achieve the target of 7 million foreign tourists visiting Bali throughout 2024,” concluded Setiaputra.
