The vibrant Dutch Caribbean island has emerged as a leading destination in the region, showcasing remarkable growth in its tourism sector.

In February 2025, Curaçao recorded a 20% increase in stayover arrivals compared to the same period last year, totaling 12,398 visitors for the month. This surge represents the highest tourism growth rate among Caribbean destinations during that period.

The upward trend continued into early 2025, with Curaçao welcoming approximately 73,300 overnight visitors by the end of February. This consistent growth underscores the island’s sustained appeal during the peak travel season.

A significant milestone in Curaçao’s tourism trajectory was the opening of Sandals Royal Curaçao in mid-2022, marking the brand’s first venture into the island. This development notably enhanced Curaçao’s visibility in the U.S. market, attracting a new wave of travelers seeking all-inclusive luxury experiences.

Complementing this, the island has seen the introduction of other esteemed all-inclusive resorts. The Mangrove Beach Corendon Curaçao All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, offers guests an array of amenities, including an aqua park, multiple dining venues, and proximity to Willemstad’s historic charm. Additionally, The Rif at Mangrove Beach provides a luxurious beachfront experience with stunning Caribbean Sea views.

Also, Curacao is one of the lucky Caribbean islands with low amounts of sargassum and no hurricanes.

In response to this rapid growth, the Curaçao Tourist Board has initiated a Destination Carrying Capacity Study in collaboration with Sustainable Travel International and the George Washington University International Institute of Tourism Studies. This proactive measure aims to ensure that tourism development remains sustainable, balancing economic benefits with environmental preservation and community well-being.

Accessibility has also improved, with airlines like Azul offering direct flights from Fort Lauderdale to Curaçao, making the island more reachable for North American travelers.

Curaçao’s unique blend of cultural heritage, pristine beaches, and strategic developments positions it as a standout destination in the Caribbean, appealing to a diverse range of travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure.
