Okay think about it! You are working on your new project – all day and all night. Your entire energy goes into it, you are glued to your laptop screen for the entire day. But this time it is not happening from your office cubicle, you are doing it while sitting at the seafront – glaring at the turquoise sea and white-sand beaches.

This is what Philippines’ new digital nomad visa can do for you. On April 28, 2025, the president of the Philippines Bongbong Marcos confirmed that there is going to be a new visa. In a government statement, he said, “To further boost tourism and economy in the country, there is a need to establish a legal framework to facilitate the entry of digital nomads in the country, or foreign nationals who desire to temporarily stay in the Philippines while engaging in remote work activities for overseas employers or clients.”

Here is all that you need to know.

Eligibility Requirements For The Philippines’ Digital Nomad Visa

To qualify for this nomad visa, applicants need to meet the following criteria:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Provide proof of remote employment.
  • Demonstrate proof of income generated from sources outside of the Philippines.
  • Have valid health insurance coverage.
  • Must hold a passport from a country that offers digital nomad visas to Filipino citizens and maintains a Foreign Service Post.
  • Must not pose any threat to the internal or external security of the country.
  • Must not be employed within the Philippines.

This comes a little after Cyprus launched its Digital Nomad visa scheme – as it is inviting non-European Union and non-European Economic Area nationals to come and stay at this island destination. Once you have arrived, you will have three months to submit your application and documents to the Migration Department. The applicant should enter Cyprus with a tourist visa.
