Two European countries set to have cheaper flights from the US in 2024

IF you’ve been keeping an eye out for cheap airline tickets to Europe, your wait may be over soon.

A flight expert has shared his travel predictions on two European countries that will see lowered fares in 2024.

Wilson Santiago Burgos, a travel columnist, revealed his travel forecast for 2024 thanks to new airline changes.

New routes to cities in Spain and Portugal, such as Madeira or Faro, could see lowered flight prices.

“Increases in frequencies and new routes between Spain and the U.S. should continue to be elements that have effects on competitive prices in 2024,” Burgos said.

Over the last three years, travelers have been able to catch great deals from the U.S. to the Iberian Peninsula.

Wilson believes the deals will continue through 2024, even during peak travel seasons such as Christmas.

For those waiting for fares to dip before planning their next vacation, the expert also suggested keeping an eye on Mexico and Asia.

Thanks to removed safety restrictions on Mexican airlines, new routes and frequencies have been introduced between the U.S. and Mexico.

“We can add the opening of the new Tulum airport, in Quintana Roo, which will make the Riviera Maya much more accessible,” Burgos explained.

“It is very likely that in 2024, we will see great deals to destinations such as Cancun, Tulum, and Mexico City.”

With the comeback of routes to East and Southeast Asia since the pandemic, Burgos also predicted more competitive fares for trips to South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, or Indonesia.

For those thinking about taking domestic trips, the expert revealed Kayak.com forecasts that predict domestic flights could drop by up to 16% in 2024.

“If this prediction comes true, it will be an excellent opportunity to do tourism to other states, and even territories,” Burgos said.

“For example, visiting Puerto Rico is very likely to be cheaper in 2024 due to the increase in routes and frequencies that have occurred in recent months.”

New routes to the island include flights from Denver, Austin, Texas, Cleveland, New Haven, Connecticut, St. Louis, or Fort Myers, Florida.
