Not sure where you are living but you wouldn’t get a shoebox where I live for less than 500k. I live in a area that is probably 80%+ Spanish. These are ordinary Spanish, without staff.
Also, I think you are confused with your concept of, ‘slum tower blocks’! When I first came to Spain, I was somewhat taken aback by the extent of tower blocks in Spain. Having come from the UK, where these high rise areas, can have a lot of unemployed and crime, it is the opposite here in Spain. Sure, there are poor high rise areas in Spain, but on the whole, I don’t think you should generalise and refer to slum tower blocks, in the context of Spain.
