Virgin Atlantic Restores its Best Feature to Find Points Deals

From cheap flights within the U.S. to nonstops to Rome (FCO) in lie-flat seats to the holy grail of booking Delta One business class to Europe for 50,000 points, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points can be incredibly valuable. But the British carrier made it much harder to find the award availability to actually book those sweet spots by eliminating a handy price calendar from its site – the key to pulling up a month’s worth of flights.

Nearly two years later, it’s finally back. Our team is now seeing the option to click “Price Calendar” on each and every search for reward flights at VirginAtlantic.com

That button first disappeared in May 2022. The airline said it was a temporary removal, with supposed plans to restore it later that year that never materialized. It’s appeared sporadically over the last few months, but now it appears to be back for good.

And that’s a welcome change – even if it’s not an earth-shattering development.

While Virgin nixed the Price Calendar button from its site, there was a workaround to pull up five weeks of flights. But it wasn’t exactly user-friendly … and that’s putting it mildly: You had to manually edit the URL to trick Virgin Atlantic into displaying that full calendar view.

There should be no need for that anymore. And that ultimately makes it easier (and faster) to find some of the best ways to redeem Virgin Atlantic points.

Booking Delta One business class between the U.S. and Europe for just 50,000 points – or even less, if you time it with a 30% transfer bonus to Virgin – is the cream of the crop. And this calendar function is an absolute necessity if you want any hope of finding the increasingly rare award space that Virgin Atlantic … unless you’re getting Thrifty Traveler Premium alerts.

It also comes in handy if you want to fly ITA Airways business class – one of our favorite new ways to get to Italy. While finding flights as low as 75,000 points each way isn’t quite as hard as the unicorn that is Delta One, this view is still incredibly helpful.

It even comes in handy if you’re looking for the best ways to fly economy to Europe using points. It’s tough to beat flying from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Amsterdam (AMS), or almost anywhere in Western Europe for just 30,000 points and under $100 roundtrip. But to do that, you’ll need to zero in on flights at 15,000 points each way.

Bottom Line

Finally.

Virgin Atlantic’s price calendar when searching for award flights is back. It hadn’t exactly disappeared, but now it’s much easier to quickly pull up a full month’s worth of flights and zero in on what you really want.
