Taiwan’s digital nomad program to launch November

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Development Council (NDC) Minster Liu Chin-ching (劉鏡清) said Thursday (Oct. 24) that Taiwan’s digital nomad program will launch in November.

Reporting to the Legislative Yuan’s Economics Committee on Thursday, Liu said the NDC’s “national talent competitiveness jumpstart program” aims to add 120,000 foreign professionals by 2028, per CNA.

Liu said the NDC hopes to relax regulations to attract digital nomads to Taiwan for remote work. The goal is to attract 100,000 digital nomads, in the hope that 10,000 will decide to remain in Taiwan.

Liu added that collaborations with Tainan and Taitung counties have been finalized. He said he encouraged digital nomads to stay in Taiwan for the long term.

The NDC said Taiwan is at a critical moment of demographic transformation. The government will intensify efforts to promote labor, immigration, and education policies to address the issue.
