THE CHARM OF CHRISTMAS IN CASTELBRANDO
from 07 December 2024 to 06 January 2025
Christmas lights up in CastelBrando with a traditional program of the 2024/2025 Holidays, which
will allow guests to experience history firsthand, between well-being, fun and relaxation, all
enhanced by the unique magic that can be felt in this ancient and fascinating medieval manor.
The “Tree of Records”
The lights of the Christmas Tree illuminate Cison di Valmarino and the valley below, which combined with the magical scenario of the castle, give a suggestive and unique image in this Christmas period.
A real record-breaking tree:
- it is an Atlas cedar over 250 years old
- it is over 35 meters tall
- it is located at over 400 meters above sea level in CastelBrando (so almost halfway between Cison di Valmarino and Follina, two of the most beautiful villages in Italy).
Presepe delle Colline
The Presepe delle Colline consists of an artistic installation designed and created by the local artist, Pietro
Colmellere, who for years has been transforming wood into sculptures depicting nature, local everyday figures, but also images and scenes from tradition. The life-size characters were made with wood from the forest surrounding CastelBrando, following felling for maintenance. A tribute to the territory in respect of the environment and nature.
Exhibition dedicated to the Nativity – at the church of San Martino
The eighteenth-century Church of S. Martino, where the Roman Castrum once stood, is decorated with frescoes by Egidio Dall’Oglio. The Church hosts the exhibition “Nascite” curated by the Tavolozza Trevigiana Association, which is also present with other works and sculptures. Inauguration on December 7th at 11:00 am by Prof Favotto with the participation of Maestro Giorgio Sini.
Guided tours of the castle – departure from the church of San Martino
The guided tours of the castle are true walks through time through the signs of different eras, which
run through two thousand years of history: from Roman finds to medieval walls, from the Renaissance to the elegant Eighteenth century. The stories of nobles and leaders are intertwined with local legends, passed down by word of mouth, in which mysteries and news stories enriched by popular imagination blend together. The tours are conducted by museum educators in Italian or English.
N.B. For the little ones, a photo with Santa Claus is a must, to whom they can give their letter of
wishes!
